By the time you see this, I'll be in a different time zone.  But that's what's great about automatic posting.

Also, a message from Dwight from the future: don't drink the coffee.

I painted in a sketch of a statue I drew earlier this summer.
I feel like there were subconscious influences from Brett Helquist and the student film, "Tamara."  Or maybe I just felt like making a shout out to them.  Either way, I really need to work on backgrounds because the blue is definitely too dark and flat here.  I really wanted to add more purples and blues but I couldn't make it look right.  But practice will hopefully get me there.

Yet, as Steven Wright says, "When I was in school the teachers told me practice makes perfect; then they told me nobody's perfect so I stopped practicing."  Just some food for thought.

Striped Shirt

Fun to paint.  From a picture I found online.
Surprisingly, I had the most fun painting the shirt.
I need to work on softening edges.

Stuff I Drew

My pen ran out of ink drawing this, so the tree and the bushes
in the foreground aren't finished, but that's life I guess.

Done in pencil, because [see above].

I drew the blue people at Costco while eating that $1 non-fat froyo they sell there.  A trio of the elderly decided to sit at the table I was eating at.  I wrote down some of what they said, because they were so entertaining:

A: Tomorrow you have dialysis. Do you just sleep?
B: ?
A: When you have dialysis--
B: --Tomorrow
A: No. When you have dialysis, do you just sleep?

C: McDonald's has senior coffee! All the asians line up.

A [talking about their Costco froyo's swirl]: There's a hold in there! A hole!

C: Your's is ice cream and mine is yogurt.

(Note that this bit is after many minutes of discussing ice cream and froyo, among other things)
B: When I come back I just lay down.
C: You're not supposed to eat ice cream! The doctor said no!

C: He was a model in Italy.
A: What is he now?
C: An insurance salesman.

Went to Pixar the other day to an event hosted by Women in Animation!  Such a great day where I hung out with friends to sketch (even on the paper tablecloth at Fenton's Ice Creamery), and then watched Monsters University in the PIXAR THEATRE SLDKJFlj;lsdakfja;lskf;sfh.  The ceiling had light up stars and sounds of crickets instead of previews, which was a welcome surprise.  The movie started and I saw so much more than I did when I first saw it!  Afterwards was a Q & A panel with some of the Pixar women, which was very cool.

Here are some of the moments from the day:
At Fenton's
Super quick sketch of town hall
My friend Jasmine brought a Polaroid camera,
so I felt like a real hipster.  Nah, it only encouraged me to be a dope.

'Twas a good day :-)
Hopefully in 5 years or so, we can take another photo like this:

My dog, sleeping.  Done from life in a very dim room, while watching "Silver Linings Playbook," one of my favorite movies.

Audrey Hepburn

Saw "Breakfast at Tiffany's" for the first time.  Good movie.

Currently watching the last episode of "Eureka".  Good show.
