Day 18

Day 18 - A couple (any two people)
Sherlock and Watson from "Sherlock" (BBC)
From a PBS picture--these two are definitely thinking hard.

I also did a speed painting of Sherlock afterwards:
His eyes are messed up and I need to focus more on larger shapes first, but it was fun to just make myself stop and see what I could do in one hour.

Day 17

Day 17 - Your favorite holiday

Christmas!  I love especially when my family plays charades or celebrity or Cranium.

Day 16

Day 16 - Something that represents your favorite song

This was a really hard one to choose.  Feist is my favorite singer, and is incredible live!  I love all of her songs, but right now my favorite is Gatekeeper [the Gatekeeper (Full Mix) from her remix album, Open Season is also great!]  I really want to do an acoustic cover of one of her songs some day, but I know it'll never do it justice...her voice has such a great tone and I'm happy to just listen to it.

Hey look!  It's me from last last year!

Day 15

Day 15 - Someone from you favorite board or video game

"This looks like a job for Layton's apprentice!"
Future Luke from "Professor Layton and the Unwound Future"!

I really like time travel books, games, etc. and this game had a really interesting story with great backstories for Future Luke and Professor Layton.  I haven't gotten a chance to play the games after "Professor Layton and the Last Specter," but maybe one day I'll find the time and moolah for it.

Day 14

Day 14 - Your favorite book character

Um, obviously Hermione! She's levitating Scabbers here:

I did a lousy attempt at making a gif so Scabbers could move and couldn't get it quite figured out, but I will soon!  Just hafta watch more Youtube. :-)

Day 13

Day 13 - A group picture

FAR from done, but here's an odd family I found a picture of:

Day 12

Day 12 - An inanimate object

I overachieved and painted TWO inanimate objects:

The giraffe is one of those toys with strings holding the beads together, and when you press the button on the bottom the strings loosen and the animal basically falls down.  If you press and depress the button many times in a row, it looks like it's dancing.

Day 11

Day 11 - Your favorite food

Weird thing: I saw this cereal in the background of an episode of "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret," in which a man tries selling and marketing a terrible product.  But Krave is the opposite of a terrible product, fyi.

Day 10

Day 10 - Something you couldn't live without
Oxygen!  It's even part of water (H20), so it's pretty important.

Day 9

Day 9 - Your favorite cartoon/anime character:

Currently, Marceline from "Adventure Time" is my favorite cartoon character.  I think it's really cool she plays bass.  Her voice is also used for a "Phineas and Ferb" character.  More cool beans.

Sketched in Photoshop, I did the line work in Illustrator with vectors (wooo!) and then colored it etc. back in Photoshop.

Day 8

Day 8 - Something with your favorite color

I don't know what this thing is, or what it is doing with my favorite color.

Day 7

Day 7 - Your family or a family member

I drew a sister:

She's pretty cool, isn't she?

Day 6

Day 6 - Something you've never drawn before

I've never drawn Perry the Platypus with my eyes closed, using a tablet, on a day in 2013, and subsequently colored him with my eyes open.  I think he's all one line.

Day 4

Day 4 - An animal you think is really cute

Wallabies are by far my favorite not-a-dog land-mammal.

Day 3

Day 3 - One, some, or all of your friends

I circled where most of my friends are, usually:

This really tested my memory--school's been on break a while now, but I think I got the more important characteristics of my friends.  Can't believe I even managed to include them each holding their favorite art pieces in one picture!

Day 2/Portrait #17

Wooo!  Two birds with one stone!

Day 2-Someone you like (celebrity, significant other, crush)

Recently, I've been really interested in accents.  I'm terrible at them, but I remember in the movie "Hanna," Saoirse Ronan was really good at them.  No idea if she's really got heterochromia, but the picture I found seemed to show she did in this instance.

Starting to get a handle on blending in digital paintings, but not quite there yet..

30 Day Drawing/Art Challenge

Some friends and I are doing this challenge.

Day 1 - Yourself or your persona

This took about 20 hours of looking in a foggy mirror, but I'm pretty sure the facial rhythms, etc. are present.  The hardest part was, by far, the background.  Really tried to get a Monet feeling there, which I think I achieved.

Another Sketchbook Filled...

These are sketches from the end of last semester till a couple days ago from my not-for-BFA sketchbook.  I'm putting more variety in my for-the-BFA sketchbook, because I had too many people drawings and so started to use this now-finished sketchbook for them.  I'll post some of that sketchbook's pages once the semester starts!

The day after finals, one of my awesome teachers took us to the DeYoung Museum and showed us how to study paintings and paint discreetly inside a museum.

Drawings from photos. There is a definite "Arrested Development" theme. I'm really excited for the 4th season!

These are some of the rest of the drawings from the sketchbook.
I'm really excited for school to start again!  I miss all my classmates and teachers and of course learning to be a better artist!
