Figure Drawing

Out of today's class, I got one drawing I'm ok with.  As we say in America, E pluribus unum...
5 minutes
I intend to get more good figure drawings per session in the future.
I plan to practice a TON once this semester ends.

Thor!

We had a pen and ink practice this weekend (along with a slew of other assignments I'll post later).  We got a pencil drawing of Thor and had to ink him in!  It took me about three tries but here is the progress on that third try:

Is it just me or does Thor look kind of like a certain Scientologist?

Inking done

Pencil erased

In other news, it is incredibly hot outside, but I'm seeing a lot more hummingbirds, which is pretty cool.  I tried to get a picture of one with my camera phone while walking, but I think it flew away.  I did get a really cool bunch of rainbows though!:

And apparently this is going on today.
In case you wanted a yard-and-plant-bike.
They are apparently on sale:

More Pen and Ink

James Montgomery Booth master copy
Alphonse Mucha master copy (he didn't really work entirely in pen and ink,
so I invented many of the lines for the shading).

Alphonse Mucha master copy

Here are the 4 final ideas I had for my pen and ink illustration:

A guy passing the man with seven wives who are asking for a group picture.

The narrator waiting in a very long line for a man to buy his seven wives and all of his cats.

The polygamist pushing the narrator out of the way to rush pass the jewelry store his wives are just noticing.

A man storing his wives in an airplanes overhead compartments.

I'm going with the airplane concept but now just need to make the best composition and best picture for the story.

Master Copy Pen and Ink

We're finally starting pen and ink!  I've been waiting all semester for the final project: illustrating a nursery rhyme.  My illustration is going to be about "As I Was Going to St.Ives." We have to draw 100 thumbnails by Monday of our illustration ideas.  I'll post more work throughout the process!

Yesterday we got to practice using pen and ink copying a master work.  I chose this one because it looked challenging and reminded me of the tv shows "Sherlock" and "Breaking Bad."
